Sacramento Blue Star Moms are collecting items to send to our deployed U.S. Service Men and Women. Read and write poetry in international styles! Poet and editor Frank Dixon Graham will show us poetry from around the world in this eight week series. Attend one session or all eight.

This week's class - The Russian Tradition. We will read poetry of some Russian masters and discuss the influence these writers have had on the world of literature. The poems of Yevgeny Yevtushenko are discussed. We will write our own poems about the coming of winter in a longer, more narrative fashion.

916 Ink: Rio Youth Writer's Guild is a workshop for young people, age 6 to 17. Carrie Parker, a Pocket-Greenhaven resident and self professed knit-a-holic is bringing her needles to the library. Anyone interested in knitting—even an absolute beginner--is invited to join us. Participants can learn to knit, get help on current projects, or general advice from expert knitters. There might even be some great conversations too.
